Two definitions of aphorism that I prefer and believe provide the best explanation of what it represents are:

1. An aphorism is a maxim, a sentence capable of constituting a meaningful idea on its own with the use of few words.
2. An aphorism is often a starting point for reflection but can also surprise with its brevity and concentration of meaning.

In the application, we have compiled (and will continually update and expand) aphorisms and quotes that we believe can offer moments of reflection on life for both us and all users. These phrases, written by historical figures, philosophers, poets, do not necessarily need to be shared but provide insight into their thoughts.

We cannot claim that an aphorism always corresponds to a truth because it remains the perspective of its author and can vary depending on the era it was written. However, many can be used for contemplation and guiding behavioral choices in our lives.

We leave it to each individual's judgment and kindness to interpret them. It is important to note that our collection does not aim to demonstrate our viewpoint or endorse all the included quotes. While some phrases may have impacted us, such as those spoken by figures who have left a lasting mark on human history, we may not align with their beliefs. However, we believe that acknowledging these statements for historical record was essential.
